Certain categories of victims and rescuers may obtain a reimbursement for the cost of medications or pharmaceutical products if they are necessary and related to the injuries and consequences of a criminal offence or voluntary assistance.
Assessment criteria
Medications or other pharmaceutical products must be:
- prescribed by a physician, pharmacist, dentist or optometrist
- related to the injuries and consequences of the criminal offence or voluntary assistance
Amounts reimbursed
Reimbursable medications are listed in the
List of medications covered by the general drug insurance plan.
IVAC reimburses the actual cost of the expenses incurred by the victim or rescuer for the purchase of medications and pharmaceutical products.
Terms of payment
The reimbursement of expenses is made upon presentation of supporting documents.
