If your application is rejected by the Direction de l’IVAC because the crime is covered by other legislation, you may submit it to the CNESST or the SAAQ (depending on the circumstances involved). The date on which the Direction de l’IVAC receives your application will be considered the original filing date. In other words, the delay caused because the application was sent to the wrong agency will not affect the three-year deadline for submitting claims for benefits. Section 22 of the Crime Victims Compensation Act guarantees it!
