The IVAC is responsible for the application of 2 acts:
- The
Act to assist persons who are victims of criminal offences and to facilitate their recovery (AAPVCO), which aims to recognize the rights of crime victims and to put measures in place to meet their needs in order to facilitate their recovery. It includes:
- The
Act to promote good citizenship (APGC), which aims to compensate people who have been injured or who have suffered material harm by voluntarily providing assistance to someone whose life or physical integrity was in danger, including amendments made when the AAPVCO was adopted.
Guidelines govern the processing of claims to ensure that the acts are applied in a uniform manner and that victims are aware of the policies.
