The purpose of physical rehabilitation is to eliminate or alleviate the victim’s or rescuer’s physical disability and enable them to develop their residual capacity in order to compensate for the functional limitations resulting from the injury suffered.
Financial assistance for physical rehabilitation
A victim or rescuer may have access to professional care, treatments and services as well as certain measures to help them with their physical rehabilitation, such as:

care, treatments (e.g., physiotherapy, occupational therapy, massage therapy, etc.)
- professional services (e.g., audiology, speech therapy, occupational therapy assessment, etc.)
- home adaptation
- vehicle adaptation
- personal assistance (e.g., housekeeping, meal preparation assistance, etc.)
- home maintenance (routine home maintenance work, e.g., lawn mowing, snow removal, etc.)
Assessment criteria
The care, treatments and professional services must be:
- related to the injury and consequences of the criminal offence or voluntary assistance.

Terms of payment
The reimbursement may be made:
- directly to a health professional who has a provider number
- to the victim upon presentation of the invoice to IVAC
