A relative or significant other of a victim who has been harmed or died as a result of a criminal offence is now considered a person victim.
He or she may have access to financial assistance for psychotherapeutic and psychosocial rehabilitation when he or she qualifies.
Number of sessions allowed
A maximum of 30 sessions of psychotherapy or psychosocial follow-up.
Reimbursable amount
The hourly rate is $94.50/hour. Reimbursement may be paid directly to the health professional or to the victim.
Evaluation Criteria
Reasons for the sessions must be related to the criminal offence.
Method of Payment
Upon receipt of the service account or supporting evidence.
Note
The family member may be:
- the victim's brother
- the victim's sister
- the victim's grandparents
- the victim's grandchildren
- the child of the victim's spouse
- the spouse of the victim's parent
- the child of the spouse of the victim's parent
- a significant other
